✨ 1. Hindu, Sikh, Jain Marriages

📜 Governing Law: Hindu Marriage Act, 1955

🏢 Registrar: Tehsildar (Registrar of Marriages)

✅ Who Can Apply?

• Both partners must be Hindu, Sikh, Jain, or Buddhist, or converted into one

• Male: 21 yrs, Female: 18 yrs

• Both must be unmarried/divorced/widowed

• Mentally sound and not in prohibited relationship (unless allowed by custom)

• Apply on Jansugam Portal to your local Tehsildar (Registrar)

📄 Documents Needed

• Wedding Card & 2 Photos

• Aadhaar/Voter ID

• DOB proof (10th Cert.)

• Address Proof

• 2 Witnesses with ID

3. Get date for personal appearance

• After Nikah, apply to Sub-Registrar (Registration Act, 1908) for optional civil certificate

📢 Note: As of now, registration of Muslim marriages under civil rules is not strictly implemented in J&K pending government clarification. 

    So, Nikah Nama is considered valid proof for Muslims.

📜 Governing Law: Special Marriage Act, 1954

✅ Who Can Apply?

• Anyone irrespective of religion, caste or creed

• For interfaith, inter-caste, or no-ritual couples

• Male: 21 yrs, Female: 18 yrs

• Mentally fit & legally unmarried

• Not within prohibited relationships (unless custom permits)

• Submit "Notice of Intended Marriage" online/offline to the Marriage Officer

• Assistant Commissioner (General), DC Office Srinagar – for all Kashmir

• Assistant Commissioner (General), DC Office Jammu – for all Jammu
