Each year, the divine call of Lord Shiva echoes from the ice caves of Amarnath, drawing lakhs of devotees to embark on a sacred pilgrimage like no other. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned yatri, this complete step-by-step guide has everything you need—from registration dates to safety protocols and scam alerts.


Let’s walk you through your 2025 Yatra preparation—from divine planning to safe arrival at the holy cave. 🙏


📅 Key Dates You Must Know for Amarnath Yatra 2025

  • Yatra Dates: 3rd July – 9th August 2025

  • Online Registration Opens: 14 April 2025

🎯 Pro Tip: Early registration means better planning and guaranteed slots. Remember, it’s first-come, first-served

 Qualifications:

  1. Persons with age below 13 years and above 70 years are not allowed
  2. Pregnant women with more than 6 weeks of pregnancy are not allowed
  3. Compulsary Health Certificate issued by authorised List of Doctors or Institutions is allowed only.

 Movement from Jammu to Yatra Points:

  • Buses and other vehilces start moving pilgrims from Jammu to Baltal/Pahalgam a day before the yatra date (typically around 4 am a day prior to darshan) to facilitate early check-in and acclimatization.

Yatri Niwas, Jammu Check-in:

  • It is advisable to reach Yatri Niwas in Jammu at least one day before departure to complete all preliminary formalities and ensure you’re well-rested. This means 2 days prior to the yatra date the pilgirm shall reach the Yatri Niwas Jammu.

  • Distance: ~14 km (one way)

  • Ideal For: Fit and experienced trekkers

📝 Registration & Health Certificate Process

✅ Step 1: Get Your Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC)


✅ Step 2: Register for the Yatra

🖥️ Option A: Online Registration

  • Official Portal: jksasb.nic.in

  • Click here for User registration directly and fill in necessary details.

  • Upload: Aadhaar, recent photo, CHC

  • Complete eKYC (for smoother RFID process)

  • Pay Fee online

  • ✅ Don’t forget to print your Yatra Permit & take soft copies

  • RFID Tag:

    • If you have registered online and also completed your e-KYC online, then you need to collect the RFID Tag (mandatory for yatra) only after reaching jammu and kashmir.
      • These are available at various RFID issuing centres across Jammu and kashmir. The detailed list has not ben officially updated yet, will share as soon as it is available.
      • For example, in 2024 there was RFID issuing centre in Jammu Railway Station, Yatri Niwas. A person just needed to go to these centres and collect the RFID tag by showing Yatra Permit (CYP).
    • If you have registered online but not completed your e-KYC online, then you need to complete eKYC first and then collect the RFID Tag, These RFID issuing centres also provide facility for eKYC if not done earlier.

🏦 Option B: Designated Bank Registration

  • State Wise List of Designated Bank Branches for Advance Registration 2025. Click on this link to find out the nearest branch. Submit CHC & Aadhaar at authorized bank branches 

  • Detailed guideline for bank registration 

  • Pay ₹150 fee and receive your Yatra Permit

  • KYC will be done by banks

  • Yatra permit issued after Aadhaar based biometric eKYC authentication shall have “eKYC” printed on the permit

  •  RFID Tag:
    • If you have received Yatra permit with completed e-KYC, then you need to collect the RFID Tag (mandatory for yatra) only after reaching jammu and kashmir.
      • These are available at various RFID issuing centres across Jammu and kashmir. The detailed list has not ben officially updated yet, will share as soon as it is available.

🧾 Option C: On-Spot Registration (Jammu/Srinagar)

  • For some reason if you have been living under a rock and know nothing  about online or bank registration and have reached Jammu and kashmir without Yatra permit, then dont worry we have got you covered

  • There are registration counters in Jammu and Srinagar both. The official list is not out yet, we will share as soon as updated.
  • But before registration, you need to take Token for registration first. This Token provides with you with the date for registration and the venue from where registration is to be done
  •  For example from past practice, 
    • There is one token centre in Saraswati dham in Jammu near railway station. From here you will token for registration. 
    • Then there were 3 registration centres: Mahajan Hall, Vaishnavi Dham and Panchayat Bhawan
  • On the date of registration as per token reach the mentioned venue along with your valid Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) and the registration will be done then and there only.

  • RFID & eKYC also done at these centers

🛑 Reminder: Age restriction (13–70 years) & pregnancy norms apply.


📶 eKYC & RFID Tag – Mandatory for All Yatris

  • Done online or at registration/RFID centers in J&K

  • Collect RFID Tag at Jammu Railway Station, Yatri Niwas, etc.

  • One RFID tag per person – do not lose it.


🚂 Journey from Jammu to Baltal/Pahalgam Base Camps

🏨 Reach Yatri Niwas Jammu at least 2 days before your darshan date

  • Complete verification

  • Book govt or private transport from the premises

  • Convoys leave at 4:00 AM a day before the Yatra

  • Don’t be late—vehicles are numbered and checked



Transport service

  1. Government Vehicle: If you intend to use government service, then after reaching yatri niwas book your tickets from the specified counter in Yatri Niwas for ticket booking and get your ticket from there only.
  2. Private vehicle already booked: If you have brought in private vehicle for yatra, the vehicle will need to be entered in Yatri Niwas a day prior to the journey from Jammu. 
  3. Private vehicle not already booked: If you intend to travel not in govt service but in private cab or bus or tempo, you can have them booked from railway station or even from outside Yatri niwas, as there are many travel companies available for the same.
  4. The vehicle will be checked and numbered by the Transport department and JK Police. These are to ensure that vehicle forms part of convoy from Jammu and move efficiently and safe.

Convoy movement from Jammu:

1. The vehicles are required to enter Yatri Niwas atleast a night prior to the journey.

2. The yatris also need to enter the Yatri Niwas atleast a night prior to the journey. The food and accomodation are available at Yatri Niwas. (Note: Pilgrim will only be allowed in Yatri Niwas 2 days before the date of Yatra or 1 day before the journey from Jammu).

3. The vehicles will start moving in convoy from 4 am onwards, i.e., a day prior to the Yatra.

4. Ensure that yatris are seated in vehicles by 3:30 am to the maximum.

5. The convoy will reach the destination on the same day.

⚠️ Avoiding Scams & Fraudsters – Stay Alert!

  • Use only official portal & authorized banks

  • Never share details on unofficial WhatsApp/Telegram groups

  • Don’t fall for agents offering fake permits or helicopter tickets

  • Report frauds to cybercrime or local police

Final Do’s & Don’ts

✔️ DO:

1. Get the Yatra Permit from Online registrations from official portal or from recognised banks only.
2. Ensure eKYC is done along with to avoid one extra step to stand in que.
3. Dont forget to collect the RFID tag from nearest centre and dont lose it as it can be issued only once to one person.
4. Ensure the registration of whole group is done togethor.
5. Keep photo or pdf of yatra permit in phone and also 3-4 printed copies too.
6. Be prepared for the halt of yatra for some days as it happens
7. Keep warm clothes and raincoats along
8. Bring less baggage
9. Keep set of emergency medicines

DON’T:

1. Dont rely or reach out to middlemen or agent for yatra permits as they provide fake permits which becomes problem after reaching jammu and you are not allowed to go to yatra as per planned date of yatra of yours preparation
2. Avoid the agents who provide last minute tweaks in Yatra permits with change of route or last minute additions or deletions in yatra permits as it is not possible
3. A person cannot go on the permit of other person irrespective if the authorised person is not coming and he approves of the same.
4. You will not get same day registration and yatra permit from jammu if you come without already registering with Yatra permit. There is atleast a gap of 2-3 days and long ques to get by. avoid such issues
5. Don get Health Certificate issued by unauthorized List of Doctors / Institution.
